What if I am pursuing a property that’s already been sold?
  Question
What if I am pursuing a property that’s already been sold?
  Answer
It’s unlikely that you will be pursuing a property that’s been sold since RealtyTrac now checks public deeds records daily to see if properties listed on the website have been sold. Once RealtyTrac knows a property is no longer available, the property’s status is updated to Sold. RealtyTrac is the only website that updates this information for foreclosure and FSBO properties on a daily basis. Sold properties are clearly marked on the search results and property details pages and will stay posted on the website for six months after the date of sale. If you want to be sure you are searching the most recently listed properties, we recommend that you search our listings by the date they were recorded. Each property has the date it was recorded at the county and the date it was entered into RealtyTrac’s database. If you see that a property has been purchased directly by the lender, you may want to contact the lender directly, to see if it’s possible to buy the property at a reduced price before it’s put back on the market.
